Album name design ideas

As a title for our digipak/album name we have decided as a group that we are going to call it 'Which side do you like' as there would be two different sides to our artist in the image that we want to have on the front cover. These are some initial ideas of design.

Digipak layout ideas

In this layout I have put one CD in it, the five other spaces will include images of the artist and text such as the songs that are in the album and messages from the artist
This digipak would include two CDs there would be again images of the artist on it and the back cover would have the names of the songs on it. The front cover would have an image of 'Giselle' and would maybe have some writing on it.
In the previous two images there are six places, where as in this one has only four, This would hold one CD and would have double sided pages so on the back you would be able to see the text and at the front would be the front image of the artist. Inside of the digipak it would have some lyrics of the songs and would have an image of the artist in the background of the image.
This digipak would fold differently to the other ones. The CD is in middle of the disk. On the inside there would be images. Images would be on all of the inside of the digipak and all on the other side as they would be double sided. There would be text on the front that says 'Giselle' and on the back would be the list of the song names that are in the CD.

Branding our artist

Due to the research that i have found it has managed to help me with my branding.

Firstly we have decided to keep her name 'Giselle' as we have found form our research our audience believe her name should be just Giselle. Why i agree with the name is because its simple and easy to remember also its a statement, solid strong name.

Many people did not assume our artist Giselle to be a trip-hop artist but and R&B which is different and not what we was looking for.

She is voted most to be a fashion icon as 10 people voted also 7 people voted her to be a sex icon so therefore we have made sure Giselle trademark is her crazy and quirky fashion sense and her raw sexual self.

Our target audience will be 16-25 males and females which does not mean that Giselle wont appeal to the otter crowd but they are our main focus.

Giselle is going to be a niche market as i think it would suit our artist more than being a mainstream artist.15 out of 30 would agree with this point according to our findings.

What our artist main things to deliver to her audience are: To always be true to herself
Fashion on another level but acceptable
To be role model of being an individual.

Here are some pictures of our Branded artist:

Branding

Branding is the process of creating a unique name and image for our artist which will continuously stand out in the consumers' mind, this is done through advertising campaigns and their personal star image  Branding aims to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains their audience to be loyal .

Branding is linked to Richard dyer as he talks about how important branding is within the music industry and how powerful it makes you become amongst your audience.
The though of iconography is major as your audience starts to see you as more than a musician  but an icon that inspires their everyday life.
This is told through they way they influence their audience through costumes, jewellery and appearance for example Rhianna has a large influence within the fashion and beauty industry.
when Rhianna shaved her  loads of people did in order to aspire to her start image and her make up style and fashion sense has a major influence as you can see within these pictures.

This then leads on 'fans' which are musicians advertisers due to them is what makes them the star that they are and here are some examples:

Audience feedback to Rough cut

1)what do you think is the message the music video is trying to tell ?
2)What did you like the most about the video or what scenes do you think should be kept?
3)what scenes did you dislike in the video or think should be deleted ?
4)Is the layout of the video confusing or do you think it goes with the style of the song ?
5)What do you believe is missing out of the video ?(e.g performance shots/more lip sync clips)
6)Is there to many or too little scenes ?
7)If you was to make this video what would you have added ?

Branding research

I separated the number of our sample which was 27 people into gender and then split them between the different questions asked.

we found that guys are more into the image of the artist that she is attractive and sexual whereas females mainly focused on her musical input and her fashion and beauty sense.

Music video themes

SEX-
Visual connotations:

The lyrics in this songs have strong  visual links to sex. We will be following Andrew Goodwin's conventions of "Amplifying" this. However our music artist will not be fully naked but we will create an illusion of her being fully naked by showing her bare back. The use of bedding as a prop also represents the act of sex and gives the viewer a "private" show. The main colour associated with sex is red. We will be using this through our artist's use of costume and make up. Red lipstick on females has been  popular following the "pop" iconic sensation Marilyn Monroe. Red lipstick will give viewers the "male gaze" and be subject to viewing our artist Giselle in a sexual manner. The artist will be showcasing a messy hairdo in the music video which can connote messy sex.

INNOCENCE-
Visual connotations:

                      The lyrics,
"
" show that the artist has an innocent, vulnerable and possible shy personality. In this music video we will use a white sheet to represent this as well as close ups on the eyes signature "big eyes" will also be used to represent innocence .We could possibly explore with the artist's dual like personality as being sexually active but shy.

Light and Dark-

Visual Connotations:

We will explore light and dark backgrounds and lighting in the music video. This will juxtapose the contrasting lyrics in the chorus that represent shyness and innocence versus the first verse which shows a sexual prowess,"Break or seize me
If the flame gets blown out in the shine
I will know that you can not be mine
Never leave me"
